European Caravan and Motorhome Market Performance in 2025 Ends Strong

European Leisure Vehicle Registrations Remain Above 200,000

Europe’s caravan and motorhome market finished 2025 in a solid and resilient position, supported by strong registration figures across the continent’s key markets.

According to figures published by CIVD, around 215,000 new leisure vehicles were registered across Europe during 2025. While this represents a 2.6% decrease compared to 2024, total registrations remained comfortably above the 200,000 mark, highlighting a market that is holding its position rather than losing momentum.

Motorhomes Continue to Lead the European Market

Motorhomes once again accounted for the majority of new registrations in 2025.

Of the total leisure vehicles registered:

  • Approximately 161,000 were motorhomes
  • Around 54,200 were caravans

Motorhome registrations in major markets such as Germany, France and the United Kingdom largely held steady year on year, while caravan registrations also remained stable, reinforcing continued demand across both segments of the leisure vehicle market.

Germany and France Remain Europe’s Strongest Markets

Germany confirmed its position as Europe’s largest caravan and motorhome market, accounting for over 40% of all new registrations in 2025.

France followed as the second-largest market, representing around 15% of total registrations. Together, Germany and France continue to dominate the European leisure vehicle sector and play a central role in shaping trends in vehicle design, layouts and onboard features.

Sweden Emerges as the Standout Growth Market

While most core European markets recorded stable sales, Sweden stood out in 2025, achieving a rise of more than 46% in motorhome registrations.

This sharp increase was driven largely by changes to national tax regulations, highlighting how policy decisions can have a direct and immediate impact on leisure vehicle demand within individual countries.

A Resilient Market Heading Into the 2026 Season

Overall, the figures point to a European caravan and motorhome market that is proving resilient. Despite uncertain economic conditions, demand remains strong, supported by continued interest in flexible travel, improved vehicle design and ongoing innovation from manufacturers.

With registrations remaining above 200,000 units and strong performance across Europe’s key markets, the outlook for the 2026 season remains stable and confident for buyers, sellers, dealers and manufacturers alike.
